SAFE BOATING COURSE OFFERED – MAY 3

Are you looking for a little more confidence out on the water this summer?  The Cape Fear Sail and Power Squadron is holding a safe boating course beginning May 3.  This course is unique in that it is one of the few that incorporates hands on learning on the water, in addition to the classroom training.

The course begins with an eight hour certifications class, America’s Boating Course®.  Approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators and recognized by the USCG this class satisfies the North Carolina boating safety education requirement.

The next step of the course is local knowledge.  Local boaters with years of experience will explain the local waters, including the Intercostal Waterway, Masonboro Inlet, and the Cape Fear River.  You’ll learn about local tides, currents, and prevailing weather conditions.  You’ll learn about marker placement and how to read markers.

The third segment is a three hour on-the-water training cruise.  This experience is invaluable to young boaters and those new to the area. This helps in applying the classroom knowledge to our local waters.

For more information or to enroll in the next course, visit www.capefearboatingcourse.org or email [email protected].

Atlantic Marine recommends this course for young boaters, new boaters, and those new to this area.
